In Ontario, Invisalign typically costs about $3,500 to $8,500. Mild cases treated with Invisalign Express can cost $2,500 to $4,000, while full (Comprehensive) treatment for crowding or bite problems usually costs $5,000 to $8,500. The price depends mainly on how much your teeth need to move and how many aligners you’ll need.
Below we compare the Invisalign options, explain what’s included in the price, and show how insurance can lower your cost.
Invisalign Cost by Treatment Type
| Treatment | Best for | Typical length | Typical cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Invisalign Express | Minor spacing or crowding, small relapse after braces | About 3 – 6 months | $2,500 – $4,000 |
| Invisalign Lite | Mild to moderate crowding or spacing | About 6 – 12 months | $3,500 – $5,500 |
| Invisalign Comprehensive | Moderate to complex crowding, overbite, underbite, crossbite | About 12 – 24 months | $5,000 – $8,500 |
| Invisalign for teens | Teens with growing jaws; includes replacement aligners | About 12 – 24 months | Usually priced like Comprehensive |
Typical 2026 ranges from published Canadian and Ontario cost guides, before insurance. Your exact fee is confirmed after a consultation and scan.
What’s Included in the Price?
Ask what’s included before you compare quotes. A complete Invisalign fee usually covers:
- Consultation, 3D digital scan and treatment plan
- All your aligners
- Check-up visits during treatment
- Refinements (extra aligners to fine-tune the result), depending on the package
- Retainers at the end, depending on the package
If refinements or retainers aren’t included, they can add about $500 – $1,500 and $200 – $1,000 respectively. A lower quote that leaves these out can end up costing more.
What Affects the Cost of Invisalign?
- How complex your case is. More tooth movement means more aligners and more time.
- How many aligners you need. Express and Lite have a cap on aligners; Comprehensive doesn’t.
- Refinements and retainers. Whether they’re included makes a big difference.
- Other dental work first. Cavities or gum problems need treatment before aligners.
- Wearing them as directed. Aligners need to be worn 20 to 22 hours a day. Not wearing them enough can mean extra aligners and extra time.
Invisalign vs. Braces: Which Costs Less?
| Invisalign | Traditional metal braces | |
|---|---|---|
| Typical cost | $3,500 – $8,500 | About $3,500 – $9,000 |
| Typical length | 6 – 24 months | 18 – 36 months |
| Look | Nearly invisible | Visible brackets and wires |
| Eating | Remove aligners to eat anything | Avoid hard and sticky foods |
| Cleaning | Brush and floss normally | Harder to clean around brackets |
| Best for | Mild to complex cases in motivated patients | Very complex cases; patients who may not wear aligners consistently |
For many adults and teens, Invisalign and braces cost about the same. The right choice depends on your teeth and how you’ll do with removable aligners.
Does Insurance Cover Invisalign?
Private dental insurance
Many workplace plans include orthodontic coverage, and it usually applies to Invisalign the same way it applies to braces. Common features:
- Coverage of about 50%
- A lifetime orthodontic maximum, often $1,500 to $3,000 per person
- Some plans cover children only (often under 19) or have a waiting period
For example, with 50% coverage and a $2,500 lifetime maximum, a $6,000 treatment would leave you paying about $3,500. Ask us for a pre-treatment estimate to see your exact amount.
Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)
No. Orthodontic treatment, including Invisalign and braces, is currently not available under CDCP.
Health spending accounts
If you have a health spending account (HSA) through work, it can often be used for the part insurance doesn’t cover. Check your plan.
Ways to Make Invisalign More Affordable
- Use your orthodontic coverage, and if you and your spouse both have plans, check whether both can be used.
- Ask about payment options for spreading the cost over the length of treatment.
- Wear your aligners 20–22 hours a day to avoid extra aligners.
- Wear your retainer after treatment so you don’t need to straighten your teeth again.
